Unwritten #3 Review Roundup!
Lots of great reviews coming in for The Unwritten #3. Here’s links to a bunch that google alerts sent me over the last week!
Here’s the thing about The Unwritten. There are a lot of books I enjoy on a monthly basis, but very few I have to sit down and rip through as soon as I make it home from the shop. In the span of two issues, Mike Carey’s The Unwritten had become one of them. - IGN
Carey and Gross make it clear that “The Unwritten” is going to be more than just Tom Taylor and it looks like this series is Vertigo’s new ‘must read’ monthly. - ComicBookResources
There are few books out there now that I read on the way home after I leave my shop. Even fewer are the books that have captured my attention like this title has. - Landroid’s Basement
Being a literature-embracing nerd myself, it was no wonder that Mike Carey and Peter Gross hooked me into their latest Vertigo series, The Unwritten, in a whole of two issues. With that said, I can assure that you’ll love these books just as much as I do, even if you absolutely detest the English language. - Kathleen Kane
You may have noticed, but the first two issues of The Unwritten, the new Vertigo series from Mike Carey and Peter Gross, were relatively highly praised by me on this very site. It’s almost inevitable in a serialized medium that there will be a stumbling block somewhere along the line, an issue that just doesn’t click, but thankfully, The Unwritten #3 not only avoids this curse, but manages to improve and elaborate upon many of the most intriguing elements of the early issues without sacrificing quality in any area. - read/RANT!
The series brims with unsolved mysteries that will surely be incredibly satisfying once revealed. It’s also an extremely fascinating look at the relationship between stories and reality. - Pendragon’s Post
So far, this has been a great read with no sign of slowing down. - Jimmy in the Garden
I’m fully confident at this point that Mr Carey is at the beginning of what will become a classic series. Rating: 9/10 - Paradox Comics Group
This is another fantastic issue of my favourite book coming out right now. Rating: 5/5 - MONDOmagazine
Carey’s exploration of fiction is getting really intense, really exciting. Between some really entertaining characters (who have stepped off the pages of the books by writers they lampoon), and some excellent artwork by Peter Gross, this book is quickly rising in the ranks of my favorite comics month-to-month. Rating: 4.5/5 - comiXtreme
It’s only been three issues, but The Unwritten is already one of my favourite comics to read every month. - But Before I Kill You
As much as I loved the previous issues, this one is where Carey and Gross really hit their stride – plus, I love me some Frankenstein. - SuperContext
The Unwritten by Mike Carey and artist Peter Gross from Vertigo is one of the most engaging new series on the racks. After reading issue number three last weekend I am even more enthusiastic to stay on board with no expectation of jumping ship. - Modern Mythology
Not many comics leave you with a feeling of wanting to read the next issue straight away and any that do should be treasured. This is a book that you should be reading and I give it four stars. - Major Spoilers.com
